TRUMP BANS CHINESE F & J VISAS!

 In International Students, Trump Administration

President Trump issued yet another proclamation banning entrance into the US and this time it’s in regard to the suspension of entry for certain students and researchers from the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The president declared in the proclamation that the PRC is engaged in a movement aimed to acquire intel on US technology in order to improve its own military advances. It is for that reason that Trump has decided to restrict and limit entry for certain non immigrants from the PRC pursuing F and J visas. This proclamation applies to graduate students and researchers from the PRC who have affiliations with or have had affiliations with the PRC’s military-civil fusion strategy. This includes receiving funding from, being employed at, studying or conducting research at or on behalf of any entity in the PRC that supports the military-civil fusion strategy.

Like all other proclamations made in the last few months this one will also have the same exceptions as well as two new exceptions which include:

– Any individual whose travel falls within the United Nations Headquarters Agreement or who would otherwise be allowed entry into the United States under applicable international agreements; and

– Any individual studying or conducting research in a field involving information that WOULD NOT contribute to the PRC’s military-civil fusion strategy.

The Secretary of State must also review and consider current J or F visa holders, in addition to those seeking new F or J visas, and REVOKE any and all visas that would apply to this proclamation. This proclamation takes place beginning June 1, 2020 and will last indefinitely until terminated by President Trump.
