NEW POLICIES FOR IMMIGRANTS DURING COVID-19!

 In Immigration News

With the Coronavirus pandemic moving swiftly along through the United States, there have been many policy changes during the last few weeks that affect immigrants. Here are a few things you should keep in mind if you are a foreign national in the US:

  1. If you received a Request for Evidence (RFE) or Notice for Intent to Deny (NOID) dated between March 1, 2020 and May 1, 2020 there will be a 60 day extension added to your deadline.
  2. If you have been recently terminated or laid off from your job and you are on a work visa, you will have a 60 day grace period in order to either find another job or to depart the US.
  3. If you have had to file for unemployment, you will not be negatively impacted on any future application regarding the public charge rule.
  4. If you have a pending adjustment of status case, either family-based or employment, there may be a chance that your in-person interview will be waived and your application will be granted by USCIS. USCIS has been granting cases in some instances without having them go through an in-person interview, so be sure to submit any and all documents requested by USCIS.
